Who We Are
FutureFIRST is dedicated to creating people that are passionate about helping communities of color stay up to date with demands in technology for the 21st Century.
What We Do
"School days are over, it is time to build a system around your heart" ~Rich Dad (Robert Kiyosaki's Cashflow Quadrant)
In 2017 the founders of FutureFIRST were fed up with the socioeconomic narratives surrounding the wealth, education, and digital gap between people of color and their peers. FutureFIRST was created to develop community members into financially and mentally free human beings that can positively impact the world in whatever way they see fit. More specifically, we were designed to fill the gaps left by faliures in the education system, allowing our members to become financially and culturally literate. First, we launched a dual-track youth enablement and capacity building initiative; DC Youth Corps (DCYC) in collaboration with Washington DC's famed Summer Youth Employment Program. DCYC for the first time in the history of the Nation's Capital provided summer youth employment participants an option to explore the intersections of tech, entrepreneurship, and social innovation. That first 12-week program sparked the creative flame that remains a blazing beacon of change in our community. 2-years later, the FutureFIRST initiative has educated over 500 youth and young adults, partnered with the Fortune 100 companies such as Amazon and Google, collaborated with numerous local and state agencies, reduced the tech and wealth gap in Washington DC.
As the next chapter of FutureFIRST takes shape, we are moving from building how we create impactful change into building systems and structures to scale that change. FutureFIRST's resources are now available wherever the need for advancements in technology, entrepreneurial mindset or cultural competency are in need, and most desired.
